Whole RV Water Filtration System

Whole RV Water Filtration System - MotorHome

RV Filter Product Overview

One of the best things we've done in our RV was to add a two stage water filtration system to our existing single stage system. We now have a three stage system in which bacteria cannot grow and that eliminates all chlorine odors as well as sediment. In places where the water is notoriously bad, our water from our fresh water tank has no residual odors.

Please note that we only use tank water for bathing, laundry, dishes and waste. We always drink bottled or purified water. We purchased our additional two stage filtration system from The Water Filter Store. They have it all and are a one stop shop when it comes to RV water filtration.

The Problem

We found in our travels that more places than not have water that has been highly treated with chlorine. After using it in our RV with the one sediment filter that came with it, the whole thing smelled like a highly chlorinated swimming pool....yuk!!

The Solution

I met the folks from The Water Filter Store at both the FMCA International Rally and at Quartzite and they fixed me up with a double filtration system with all of the correct fittings and connections that made installation a breeze.

They have various types of filters that will filter most anything and we chose a reasonable one that addressed our main concern, which was getting rid of the chlorine smell. Water now enters the coach first by going through a canister containing a simple sediment filter, which should be replaced about every six months. Next the water travels to an adjacent canister containing a special KDF filter and finally through a filter block carbon filter and then into our 100 gallon fresh water holding tank.

Installation and Operation

Installation required fixing a bracket to the wall of our utility compartment that would hold the two extra canisters. Also measuring to make sure that all of the connections were made to the proper length then installing quick connects for easy connection to the water source. Finally the filters are placed into the canisters making sure to lubricate the "O" ring on top of the canister with a small amount of vaseline. The sediment filter should be replaced about every six months and the others about once a year.
