RV 360 Rotating Plumbing Vent Cap
Product Overview
This vent cap replaces the original standard vent caps on the RV and is the permanent solution to annoying tank odors. This vent cap rotates much like a sail pointing away from the direction of the wind and it actually uses the wind to pull odors from the holding tank out through the roof top vent and away from the living space of the RV.
The Problem
Anyone who has done even a little RVing knows that tank odors can be very unpleasant and can permeate inside the RV from even the slightest breeze outside. The wind can actually push odors into the RV, and odors enter the living space through toilet seals and the overflow tube.
The conventional standard roof vent cap is designed to keep objects out of the vent stack, not to extract holding tank odors from your living space. The problem is further exacerbated by the fact that every time you smell tank deodorant, you are actually inhaling chemicals, methane, ammonia and concentrated waste particles.
The Solution
The RV 360 Rotating Plumbing Vent Cap is the best solution that I've found to address the above problem. The RV-360 Rotating Vent / Odor Extractor uses the wind to pull all the odors and gasses from the holding tank, out of the roof top vent, away from your living space. Regardless of wind direction or speed, the RV-360 works quietly and effectively to rid your RV of foul holding tank odors.
Installation and Operation
Installation can be done without professional help, however it is highly recommended that this item be installed professionally to insure that rooftop waterproofing is done correctly and to properly secure the unit to the vent stack. For those do-it-yourselfers the special tools and sealants are needed to do the job correctly. The old sealant must be removed around the existing original vent pipe with a utility knife.
Special care must be taken so as not to damage the roof membrane. The original vent cap must be removed. Then the base plate and RV 360 can be installed over the existing vent pipe and held in place with 3 equally placed set screws that are inserted into pilot holes previously drilled as low as possible on the shaft. The RV-360 must be properly attached to the existing vent pipe to ensure that the unit remains in place while traveling. Finally the proper roof sealant is applied diligently between the cover plate and the roof and around the shaft to prevent water from entering the RV.
Once installed, the unit will rotate by use of the wind and will draw odors from the tank by rotating downwind when traveling or standing still.
